I want to keep learning new steps in the dance of life

I will always be learning new steps, always dancing. Here in my little corner of the street there is organic gardening, art, clay, glass, painting and fiber art, writing, music, dogs, and coffee with friends who drop by.

Get back to joy, so i did. Joyful art, full of laughter and bursting with color, available daily.. Friend me on facebook to see a more up to date, up to dating..*did that make sense??* Heh.. enjoy

I've been busy making art

I want time to make beautiful things that make people happy when they see them. I want to put these lovely bursts of color into a winter garden and whisper to the birds that this will all soon be bright and beautiful and teaming with things to eat and sunshine to make you sing. I hope the birds know i want that for them.

the amazing things people do with plastic

I have no idea what this is made of, when I did a search for gluing plastic this wondrous work came up and I was enthralled. I want to do this to my car, i want to put stuff all over it and make people stare at it while i drive down the road. I love that this artist shared their vision in something so common as a car..a piece of art driving down a road would make me stop and think.

kumquat upside down cake

The kumquats are producing in abundance this year. If you've never seen or tasted one, and you love oranges, imagine popping an orange into your mouth and every sweet bit of it is edible, the skins are thin and sweet and the flesh inside is juicy and either tangy or sweet, depending upon the variety. Well they're starting to leave these things in your car if you leave your window rolled down...they're everywhere. Today I took my dear friend's kind gift of kumquats and made kumquat upside down cake. Found the recipe on the internet and it is beautiful to look at, if I may say so myself

Ok, Alright...

So we work a little slow. Please forgive us! It is not easy being me, you know!

I've been called, to my face, a Renaissance woman. Let's leave that pretense at the door, though it's a wonderful compliment. I think ADD is the modern term for Renaissance..but who am I to say.

This blog is about sharing, sharing the culture that surrounds me, the friends I share it with, the food I prepare, the art I love and that includes, sewing, writing, recycling, dumpster diving, painting, making tile, making mosaics and fusing glass. I also garden mostly for my own food, and I cook to satisfy an appetite for life and different ethnic cuisines and to give friends a taste of all the places I have been.

This blog is for all of it. Somedays I may spend more time in the kitchen than the studio, or make a mosaic, or share an old project or what I found in a dumpster, or what I've written, or what seafood vender drove by the house and shared a bounteous catch.

I'm hoping you'll enjoy it.

peace,
Leslie

Welcome!!

Way down on the bayous of South Louisiana sits a little art pottery studio where the door is always open, the coffee is always hot and the company always good. Crazy Redhead Art Studio was started in 2002 by one of Louisiana’s craziest red heads, Leslie Leonpacher. Since 2002 Leslie has been pouring her heart and soul into her art. Leslie’s various works have been featured through out the country in museums, art galleries and on local and national tv shows.

Recently Leslie has added Art for a CAUSE to Crazy Redhead Art’s line of wearable art. Art for a CAUSE focuses on necklaces, pendants, earrings, pins and bracelets featuring WORDS that connect to a specific cause. For example our by purchasing our WATER pieces you are supporting Charity Water. Charity Water brings water to the millions of people without clean drinking water. Our Art for a CAUSE pieces will have a statement of the charity in the item description.

Art for a CAUSE is also available for fundraisers – more information to follow – or just email us.

So, stop by our new Etsy shop for a cup of coffee, a story and some beautiful art.
